Thai Orchid Restaurant Slidell, LA
Thai Orchid Restaurant
785 Robert Blvd Slidell, LA
Slidell is a town about 30 miles north of New Orleans. The way I find most of my thai food places is by typing "thai" into the maps app on my iPhone. The only one that came up when I did that search here in Slidell, LA is Thai Orchid Restaurant... and oh am I glad it found this one. This place offered me one of the best experiences I have had in a Thai place outside my thai food comfort zone (The Phoenix Valley). The great experience consisted of what I call "The Thai Trio" good food, good atmosphere, and friendly people. What I really enjoyed about this particular meal was the sweet sauce with cucumbers, onions, and shredded carrots that came with the chicken satay which they called "Thai Satay". Of course the peanut sauce was really good on the Satay as well. The Yellow Curry tasted like sugary milk on steroids, it was amazing. It came with big chunks of carrots, instead of the normal sliced carrots. The Yellow Curry also contained a perfect amount of onions and potatoes. As I was sitting at my table a guy that was sitting behind me said "this is the best food in the world"... and I thought "that guy read my mind". To end off the meal the dinner-end "mint" was a butterscotch candy... what a nice way to end the meal. My meal totaled $27 bucks with tip... a little pricey for the small budget, but well worth it in my opinion.
