Lai Thai Kitchen Grand Rapids, MI
Lai Thai Kitchen

Grand Rapids, MI
I passed by Lai Thai Kitchen twice, so if you are looking for it like I was, it's right next to the Karate place, they apparently forget to turn the backlight on at night. Right when I saw the sign I shivered a little, it said Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese, uh oh, to give the restaurant credit I may have been shivering because of how cold it was. The Thai Ice Tea was stellar! Perfect blend, it did come out already mixed though and I kind of like doing that myself, but the taste made up for that! The inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated with reds, oranges, and browns. Music was classical Chinese, it added to the atmosphere even though it wasn't Thai music. The Chicken Satay was different, no peanut sauce or sweet cucumber sauce, just a sweet and sour type sauce. It was decent. One HUGE problem, this was not my yellow curry! Just like the last Thai place I went to in this state, this Gang Garee was not what I expected, lots of lemongrass, it tasted more like panang than my boy Yellow. It tasted ok, but it wasn't what I was expecting, so in a way it was disappointing. Weird! Two disappointed nights in a row, now I can't wait to find a place with my Yellow Curry! Super nice older gentlemen that helped me out, he stopped to ask questions about me, which could have been because I was the only one in the whole place!
