Bankok Restaurant Alexandria, LA
3648 North Boulevard
Right when I sat down I saw the Chinese zodiac paper under the glass table top, uh oh. A sushi menu was right next to the Chinese zodiac, this was an "Asian" restaurant. My suspicions were reaffirmed when I opened the menu. They didn't have yellow curry, but they did have Chicken Satay and Thai Ice Tea, which was not very good at all, but they brought out some deep fried nasties and sweet and sour sauce to keep me company, so that was nice. The main lady was very nice, she talked to me about Thailand, she said she hadn't been back for 10 years. I asked about the music because I think I am getting to the point where I can finger Thai singing, I was right! The lady showed her good willed self again when some regulars came in and started joking with them. If I lived in Alexandria I would frequent this place, even though they didn't have my holy trinity. I must say I am growing fond of all Thai food, I actually enjoyed the Red Curry, which is good for me in the long run. Kind of funny they brought a fortune cookie out after the meal. Bankok Restaurant goes to show that really nice people can make a dining experience good even when the food was average.
Prices were cheap... Thai Ice Tea was $1.50, Chicken Satay was $4.50, and the Red Curry was $8.25.
